Jupiter Lee Butz (previously Lee Butz) (they, he) is passionate about shaping the future of cities to improve everyone’s work and life experience.
Working at the intersection of cities and technology, they founded District Technologies, a community and smart buildings platform that helps office spaces reduce friction for people using them. District works with some of the biggest landlords (Merlin Properties, CEG) and companies (WPP, Carnival Cruises) to help their workplace experience through digital products improve exponentially. District was founded in 2017 and is venture capital funded.
They recently founded a tech studio called Authentic Technologies that helps clients build products and scale to strive in this new digital world through data-informed decisions and authentic outcomes.
Prior to starting technology businesses Jupiter built, ran and scaled coworking campuses first Factory in Berlin and then Interchange in London for Market-Tech now Lab Tech.
Jupiter got accepted to read an MEng specifically Engineering Economics and Management at Oxford University matriculating 2009 with having written their masters thesis on “Understanding the DNA of Strong Entrepreneurial Hubs”.
Jupiter is also passionate about community and tries to regularly give back to the queer and POC community, mentoring a few entrepreneurs and organising regular dinners.
Jupiter has received many awards such the EG Bridging the Gap 2021, EG overall Tech Award 2021, Proptech Company of the Year 2021, Rising Star of the Year in 2017, Top 100 Creative Superpowers and their company has ranked in the top 10% of global startups, they also guest lectured at Oxford University and Cornell University.
